Special Circumstances and Wills

There are situations where a Will must be drafted urgently, or in a different way. At Keyte Legal we have experience in all of the areas highlighted in this article and will always expedite our services to suit client needs. If you fall into one of these categories, please get in touch with us today, and we can guide you through the process.

Emergency Wills

If you require a Will urgently due to illness, imminent surgery, or because you or someone you know is at the end of their life, we can help. We have a policy in place to support these Wills and we can attend outside of office hours and prepare a handwritten Will where necessary.

If we are unable to act, for any reason, then in the interest of the potential client we will always refer you to another business or firm who can assist you.

Military Service

The formalities required to prepare a Will are different where a soldier is on military service, or is a mariner/seaman away at sea. The Will may be made orally and does not have to be witnessed, and can also be made by someone under the age of 18.

Deaf, Blind or Mute Testators

Wills must be adapted slightly with special clauses to reflect the circumstances, but we believe in accessibility to write a Will for everyone and will endeavour to assist in whatever way we can.

Wills when someone does not have Mental Capacity

Most people are surprised to learn that an application can still be made to the Court of Protection for a “statutory Will” if a person no longer has mental capacity to make their own Will. This is a specialist area and we can recommend the right people to assist in this type of application.

If you require advice about writing a Will for either yourself or a loved one, please get in touch with us today, for a no-obligation initial chat.
